Most landscaping looks great on day one. The real question is what it looks like five years from now - or ten. That's exactly the problem we set out to solve on this Lakeville job. A lot of yards end up with overgrown shrubs crowding each other out, or perennials that spread into a tangled mess because nobody planned for how big things would actually get.

Here's what we were working with - a front yard and side beds that needed a complete planting overhaul. We laid out fresh curb edging to define clean, sweeping bed lines around the front of the home, then got to work placing over 80 new plantings across the property. Shrubs, perennials, hydrangeas - each one chosen and spaced with its mature size in mind. That's the part most people don't think about up front, but it makes all the difference.

The weed barrier goes down before anything gets planted. It's one of those steps that adds time to the job but saves the homeowner a lot of headaches down the road. Paired with the decorative rock mulch in the front beds, it keeps things looking clean without a lot of ongoing maintenance on your end.

The side bed stretches the full length of the house, and we carried the same curb edging detail all the way through so the whole property feels intentional - not pieced together. Every planting is staged and placed before we put it in the ground. That way we can make sure the spacing is right and the layout actually makes sense visually before anything is permanent.

Good planting design isn't just about what goes in the ground. It's about thinking ahead so your yard grows into something you're proud of - not something you're fighting to manage every summer.
