Boulder Wall Lakeshore Restoration Taking Shape in Prior Lake

This one is a big undertaking - and we're right in the thick of it. We're working on a side-by-side lakeshore restoration for two neighboring properties on Prior Lake, MN, and the boulder walls are starting to take real shape. Jobs like this don't happen overnight, and they don't happen without serious planning and equipment.

Lakeshore properties in Minnesota deal with a tough combination of freeze-thaw cycles, wave action, and sloped terrain that just eats away at unprotected shorelines over time. Left unchecked, that erosion doesn't stop at the water's edge - it works its way up toward the home. A properly built boulder wall stops that process cold and gives the property a stable foundation to work from.

What makes boulder walls the right call here is durability. These aren't decorative stones - they're heavy, interlocking boulders that hold their position under real pressure. We're using both a Bobcat and a CAT track loader on this site because placing stone at this scale requires precision. Each boulder has to be set correctly, or you're building problems into the wall from the start.

Running two restorations side by side is its own kind of coordination challenge. Crew, equipment, and material flow all have to be dialed in so neither property gets held up. We're moving a serious amount of material here, and keeping things on track takes a well-organized team that's done this kind of work before. We're not done yet, but the bones of this project are looking solid. The walls are running clean along both properties, and once the final grading and finishing work is complete, these shorelines are going to look completely different. Stay tuned.
