We kicked off the 2026 season strong - and this New Prague patio is proof the hardscape crew hit the ground running. The ground was barely thawed and we already had a full crew laying base, screding gravel, and getting pavers down behind this sharp modern home.

Here's what most people don't think about with a paver patio - the prep work is everything. Before a single paver goes down, you need a properly compacted base, landscape fabric, and a precisely leveled gravel bed. Our crew uses screed rails and levels throughout the entire base process. That's how you end up with a patio that doesn't shift, sink, or crack after a few Minnesota freeze-thaw cycles.

The finished result really ties into the home's aesthetic. Light gray field pavers with a darker border create a clean, defined look that complements the dark board-and-batten siding and black window trim on the house. It's a detail that matters - the right paver color can either clash with your home or pull the whole exterior together. This one does the latter.

A paver patio is one of the highest-value outdoor improvements you can make to a property. It adds usable square footage, holds up to harsh weather far better than poured concrete, and individual pavers can be replaced if something ever shifts - unlike a slab that cracks and stays cracked. If you've been thinking about adding a patio this year, now is the time to get on the schedule before summer fills up.

We do patios, paver driveways, and pool decks across the New Prague area and the surrounding region. This one was a great way to open the season - and there's plenty more where it came from.
