When you've got a door that steps out to nothing - just a grade change and no real usable space - that's where we come in. This is exactly the kind of problem we solve all the time in Chaska. The goal here was to tie together a functional paver patio with modular block steps and raised planter walls into one clean, connected outdoor space.
The steps are built using the same modular block as the surrounding walls, which gives everything a unified look. The dark charcoal and warm tan blend in the block adds real depth without trying too hard. It's a color palette that works with almost any exterior - and on this home, it fits naturally against the siding and door.
What makes this kind of build more involved than it looks is the coordination between the patio field, the step risers, and the wall caps. Every element has to line up and finish clean. The paver field runs right up to the base of the steps with tight joints and consistent coursing throughout - that doesn't happen by accident.
The raised planter section doubles as a functional border wall. It separates the greenery from the patio surface and gives the whole layout a defined edge. When you combine retaining walls, steps, and a patio into one scope of work, the result feels intentional - not pieced together. That's what we're always going for.
NS Landscapes handles modular block retaining walls, steps, and paver patios across Chaska and the surrounding area. This is the kind of work we're built around, and we take it seriously from base prep to final cap placement.
